Makaira KK (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Co-Representative Directors: Ko Fujii and Akira Takahashi), a leading public affairs consultancy, is pleased to announce that its CEO,Ko Fujii will speak at the Toyama Growth Strategy Conference: “Resonating Wisdom and Creativity — Sprouting Projects that Move the Future.”

As Japanese companies face challenges such as shrinking domestic markets and labor shortages due to population decline, this session explores how regional businesses can take their next leap forward.
The discussion will focus on two key pillars:
Transforming Corporate Culture: Breaking free from conventional mindsets through initiatives like DEI (Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion).
Glocal Niche Strategy: Re-evaluating the unique technologies and values of local companies to identify and penetrate global niche markets.
Fujii will join other experts to discuss how these elements can empower businesses to stay competitive and innovative from a regional base.
Date & Time: March 22, 2026 (Sunday), 13:40–14:55
Capacity: 150 attendees
Venue: Merika (Namerikawa City, Toyama)
Format: In-person with live streaming available
The conference aims to realize Toyama Prefecture’s vision of becoming a “Leading Region in Well-being” with a “10 Million Happy Population.” By bringing together diverse minds from both inside and outside the prefecture, the event fosters new movements and collaborations that transcend industries and positions. The goal is to transform shared ideas and “resonating wisdom” into concrete actions that shape the future of Toyama.

At a time when regional companies are facing structural challenges such as population decline and the maturation of the domestic market, it is essential to adopt new perspectives—organizational transformation through DEI and a “glocal niche” strategy—to overcome these difficulties.
It is a great honor for me to participate in this conference as Vice Chair of the Toyama Prefecture Growth Strategy Council and to engage in dialogue with fellow changemakers who share the same aspirations. Under our mission, “Advocacy for Changemakers,” Makaira has supported the social implementation of technology and culture.
In this session, I look forward to exploring together the importance of revitalizing organizations through the promotion of DEI, as well as advancing a “glocal niche” strategy that connects the unique strengths of regional communities to global markets. I sincerely hope that the convergence of diverse perspectives will spark new initiatives emerging from Toyama.
